The Kings Speech

I have chosen to recreate this still from The Kings Speech. The lighting used looks like window light,  want to explore weather this is achievable using window light or the the of a more powerful and controllable source of light like a soft box. 

I am going to also have to explore how to create the shadows in the image and control them in relation the the highlight. 

one of the challenges involved in lighting this image will be the microphone as it is made of metal a highly reflective object that will bounce the light around. 

Cindy Sherman - Untitled Film Stills

Cindy Sherman created body of work looking at the typical roles women are given in films, exploring how women are portrayed as objects to be viewed and enjoyed by the male. She has explored this by creating film stills. This is one of the key inspirations for this body of work. 

Film Stills - Personal Project

Film stills is a personal project i have started to develop my technical stills as a photographer and in the long run moving towards moving image. during this project I will move away from concepts and the contextualisation  of my work and focus on the technical side of photography. 

To begin with I am going to focus on the lighting of images and the effect it has.  I will initially take a deconstruction, reconstruction (DECO RECO) approach, deconstructing film still to discover how it had been lit and attempting to recreate it. The aim is to have gained both a good understanding of lighting for films and television and give me the confidence and experience to create my own images.
